For 25 years, our client envisioned building an additional dwelling unit in Leimert Park, Los Angeles. When she approached us, ATELIER X DESIGN was still just an idea. Her trust gave us the confidence to take a leap of faith and establish our practice—and in turn, she helped us realize our vision of creating a collaborative design studio in Los Angeles.

Swan House | Design Journey | 2025 NEW
An old cottage, quiet and unassuming. The kind of place that holds echoes—of footsteps on wooden floors, of time slipping past like the tide. The client wants an ADU, a roof deck, a glimpse of the sea. We sketch as we talk, the lines forming something sculptural yet undefined.
Not just an addition, but a transformation. The ugly duckling sheds its weight, its refrain. A swan emerges—abstract, sculptural, light on its feet. A place where the grandkids will chase the sea breeze, where laughter will rise with the tide, folding into the rhythm of the waves.
A sunken room, carved from the blue sky. A Viking longboat, its ribs laid bare in wood and shadow, a quiet nod to Nordic roots. A vessel of memory and movement, floating between land and water, past and future.
