Pebble Beach House in California

Perched atop a 660-foot hill along 17-Mile Drive, the house finds its place within the Del Monte Pine Reserve in Pebble Beach, where Pacific fog drifts in and light dances with the changing seasons. Originally designed by Charlie Rose, the home embodies the spirit of the 1980s—a time when the living room served as the heart of the house. Now, reimagined for a warm and creative tech-world couple, the kitchen takes center stage as the new hearth, celebrating the rituals of daily life with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean above the treetops.

Guided by our fascination with harnessing and shaping light, the remodel transforms the home into a sanctuary. Newly created glass openings seamlessly connect the interior to nature, framing each moment with intention and purpose. A sun terrace reveals another panoramic view, this time gazing toward Carmel-by-the-Sea, adding an element of surprise and discovery. The house now feels like a perch above the world, offering a 220-degree vista of the ocean, framed by the majestic trunks of the Del Monte Pines forest.

Designed as a space for both work and play, the home balances quiet focus with joyful relaxation. Light-filled rooms provide an inspiring backdrop for creativity and productivity, while intimate courtyards and gathering spaces encourage connection and rest. Bottles of light are carved into the volumous attic, drawing sunlight into the home’s quieter, deeper spaces.

The play of glimmers and shadows invites you to pause and take in the magic of place and time. In this reimagined home, every corner whispers, every line dreams, and life celebrates itself with quiet joy.
